After a series of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Space Key is being developed in collaboration with a non-publicized artist, and based on cutting-edge carbon fiber composite materials that were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a new project that has been revealed by Lamborghini.

The new project, dubbed the Space Key - is a piece of art made in collaboration with a lone artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be accessed through the use of a QR code. The project is a limited edition and will be auctioned off within the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made of a carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part a research project in the year 2019 and sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was then transformed into a unique art work when it returned to Earth. The physical piece includes an NFT serial code that ties to the digital art work via a QR code on the back.
For those who do not know, NFTs are unique identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to a digital asset, such as a video, image or music. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and scarcity as well as trackability of their tokens on the internet.
Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to the next level. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will release information about this exciting project. This will include the names of the unknown artists and a schedule for auction.
The physical element of Space Key

The carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, digital artwork via an QR code on the back of the key. Only five Space Keys have been produced.
NFTs are unique identifications that are recorded in distributed ledgers, such as the Blockchain and connected to digital assets like images. This is a hot topic for people with more money than common sense. So it was only a question of time before automakers decided to cash in.

The Space Key is a collection of five physical objects that unlocks an exclusive digital artwork by the yet to be identified artist. The project was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the collector's piece is limited to five units and will soon be auctioned off.
Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research project. After returning to Earth, it was made into a QR code, which connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera, which took each of the individual images, which were then merged into the final image. The result is a truly out of this world photograph that captures both the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic image of the car rising from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the event hasn't been set yet.
The auction
With the slogan 'to the moon', luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with a mesmerizing project developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The auctions, which will be held between February 1 and February 4, will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be bid on by making an online registration. Each NFT will be sold separately and the winner will get an original digital artwork created by world-renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments that the Space Key experienced during its journey through space.
